As part of this deal, he and FK are reincarnated into the modern day, where they can reunite without the tyrannical king looming over them. Jester at last takes his revenges, and returns the tome to his demonic patron. His face now bears the markings of his signature mask, and small horns are growing from his forehead. The king sends all his guards out to control the frenzied populace, leaving himself defenseless for the revived Jester. Seeing such a beloved member of the community killed before them is the last straw, and catalyzes the rebellion of the citizens. Given his expression prior to execution, it’s likely Jester had already made his pact with the demon to ensure the king is brought down, promising to return the tome the king apparently has to its demonic owner. His attempt on the king’s life fails and results in Jester’s beheading, but the damage is already done. Jester, seeing that the one person he actually loved was now dead, goes off the deep end, plotting to murder the king and spreading state secrets. This is all turned on its head, however, when the king has the FK killed, possibly because she was involved with a growing resistance against him. Jester becomes a beloved part of the community, as he turns out to be a damn good jester, endearing himself to those around him. He reunited with FK, who gives him his signature mask, and possibly also falling in love with him. This may have influenced Jester’s chosen career path, becoming the king’s jester.
